New Year, Stronger U
Happy New Year! How’s your first week of January?? I am getting SO much done that I have been putting off, so I feel like I’m crushing it!
I’m kicking off the new year with a MUCH delayed review on Stronger U, the nutritional coaching service I used last year. I kept putting off writing this post (I finished the program in September), but I’m really glad I did because I feel like now is the perfect time with New Year’s resolutions! Or maybe I put it off because who really wants to put before and after pictures out there into the world?!? But I loved this program and am AMAZED by how well it works, so I’m excited to share my results with you!
Before + After
(these pics are totally unedited, although I do have self tanner on in the ‘after’ pics)
The first picture was taken on March 20, 2017 and I weighed 124 pounds. The second photo was taken July 3, 2017 and I weighed 114 pounds.
Let me tell you how the program works. You sign up for an account (you can see pricing and sign up HERE). Stronger U will ask you some questions and assign you a coach. They send you a spreadsheet to fill out daily that you will submit to your coach each week. Here is an example of the spreadsheet:
According to your goals, your coach will assign you a macro count for the week, so a number of grams to hit in each carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. You track everything you eat in My Fitness Pal and try to hit those numbers as closely as possible. THAT’S IT. You can eat whatever you want, whenever you want…as long as it fits in your macros. Throughout your session, your coach will adjust your macros depending on your weight loss, and will also advise you on going through maintenance cycles. Other than my results, let me tell you all the reasons I love this program!
Stronger U Pros
1 – I like being able to eat whatever I want. I love cheese, bread, and chocolate, so being able to have those in moderation keeps me sane and makes it easier for me to stick to a diet. It also makes it much more maintainable in the long run because you learn how much to eat of the foods you love. While they give you no restrictions on what to eat, you do end up making healthier choices because you simply get to eat more food that way!
2 – Stronger U wants you to eat as many calories as possible and still lose weight. This girl likes to eat, so I love that! At my absolute lowest cut, I was still eating about 1500 calories a day, and on maintenance I was up to 1800 calories a day. It was honestly more food then I had been eating on a daily basis, and I loved it.
3 – Speaking of maintenance, I love that Stronger U has a plan for you after the diet. They are just as interested in helping you maintain your weight loss as they are helping you lose the weight. This was huge for me. I have done so many diets and dropped 5 pounds, just to put them right back on. Stronger U gives you tons of food awareness and a plan for after the diet, so it makes it MUCH easier to maintain your weight once you are at your goal weight.
Let’s be real: having to weigh and measure everything you eat is not the most fun thing ever. But once you get in a groove, it gets WAY easier. Eating out was tough for me, although it doesn’t have to be and isn’t for everyone. I don’t really go to restaurants and order a salad with chicken, I’m more of a share wine and a cheese plate kind of girl, so it made it hard for me to track. I HATED having to try and estimate what I ate out, so I ended up just not eating out much (which was good for my waistline and my wallet). Drinking alcohol was the same: if I could have a piece of chocolate or a glass of wine, I’m choosing the chocolate every time. So if drinking is something you like to do, I will admit it is pretty difficult on the diet. But for me, I realized how much I actually enjoy NOT drinking…and I drink a lot less now whether I’m tracking or not. I will say HANDS DOWN, all the sacrifices were worth it!
Now I’ll be honest: I let it ALL go in December. I love the holidays and I’m really busy with work, so I allow myself to not work out, drink lots of wine and eggnog, and if anyone brings me cookies, I eat them! And I love every second of it. I also know full well that I’ll gain 5 pounds. BUT IT’S WORTH IT! I love that I now have a plan to fall back on if I go a little crazy and need to drop a few (which is my current state LOL).
Lance wants to try out Stronger U, so we are starting a 12 week session in February. Want in?! Sign up HERE! If you do, I would LOVE if you would list me as a referral. If you have any questions at all about the diet, please email me: firstname.lastname@example.org.
